About Laura:

Laura Greenwald is a Graduate Student in the Developing Systems Laboratory. In 2023, she graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in Psychology and Philosophy, carrying an Honors distinction. During her undergraduate studies, she was a Head Research Assistant in Project SEED – a longitudinal study researching the implications language-brokering has on Mexican-American families. In addition, Laura founded a Women in Philosophy organization that focused on class, race, sexuality, among other topics. Prior to Austin, she was an Honors College Chancellor’s Fellow Scholar at Lone Star College-CyFair where she completed seven independent, graduate-level research projects. Four of these projects were nominated and presented at the local level; two were nominated and presented regionally at the Great Plains Honors Conference in Spring 2021. Post-graduation, Laura continued her position in Project SEED, aiding in research management and protocol facilitation. Additionally, she was a paraprofessional in Katy ISD where she serviced over 30 students with various disabilities. While at UH, Laura aims to uncover how specific forms of parental engagement support learning, guiding caregivers toward more effective strategies to support their infant’s emotional development. Outside of research, Laura enjoys music production, running, as well as spending time with her dogs Suki and Hachi.
